Our community is full of incredible talent, and we want to bring that passion directly to Loma students. We are looking to launch several new weekly enrichment classes for the upcoming spring semester and are seeking enthusiastic community members to lead them. 

 

Whether you are a professional, a dedicated hobbyist, a retired expert, or just passionate about a specific skill, our students would love to learn from you. Classes can focus on academics, physical activity, skills-development, creative arts, or just pure fun! 

 

Here are just a few ideas of what you could teach, but we want to hear yours: 

 

• STEM & Exploration: Robotics, chess, math boardgames and puzzles, wildlife science, kitchen chemistry, gardening

• Creative & Performing Arts: Puppet making, ceramics, painting, chorus, theater/improv

• Languages & Culture: Language and culture introduction through games, food, music

• Sports & Movement: Martial arts, running club, dance, circus arts, playground sports

• Life Skills & Hobbies: Cooking or baking basics, magic tricks, hand sewing

The Details: 

• Schedule: Classes will meet once per week on school grounds following dismissal. 

• Timeline: Multi-week sessions will be 6-8 weeks long and occur during the spring semester (January-May). Single-day workshops are fine too! 

• Funding: Programs will be supported by a combination of community donations and family enrollment fees. We will work with you to establish a budget for your class materials and are planning to reserve funds for instructor stipends. 

 

You don't need a formal teaching background — just a desire to share what you love! To ensure student safety, all instructors will fulfill Loma Prieta Elementary's volunteer requirements, which include TB clearance, a short online volunteer training, and passing a Live Scan background check (fee will be covered by county office of ed).
